So…What is your garage setup?

Here’s mine:

I am rather fortunate with my dog house. I have a detached 32×24 barn style garage. It has a ceiling height of 20ft or so at the peak, single story. The walls are not yet insulated or finished, so temperature control is a challenge. The garage was already built when we bought the house 5 years ago. The previous owner bought it to store his RV.

My house also has an attached 2 car garage that is 20×20, but that is pretty much my wife and kid’s garage. She parks on one side and the other side is full of toys, bikes, etc.

I picked up a used 9000 lb 2 post lift a few years ago, and would consider it my best garage investment ever. I don’t think I can go back to jacks and jack stands.

I upgraded the lighting right before I started my V8 swap. I went from 4- 4ft 2 bulb fixtures to 8- 4ft 4 bulb fixtures and 2 4ft 2 bulb fixtures. I also have two sodium lights (like the ones used at Home Depot) mounted at the peak of the roof. Needless to say, it is bright in there. Only problem is it shows how much of a mess my garage is.

I am using a 170k BTU forced air propane heater. I also have a one burner radiant propane heater that I use. The forced air gets the garage warm quick, the radiant helps to maintain the temp.

I have a 2.5ton AC unit sitting in the corner. I hope to get it installed in the spring. I want to get some insulation in before I kick off that project.

I don’t have any recent pictures, but you can see bits and pieces looking through my build pictures. There’s a link in my signature.

So where are you doing you build?

My home away from home as my wife calls it is 28 X 28 with 10′ ceiling is for hobbies only, no lawn equip. etc. It includes stainless steel countertops and a 50′ long 1/32 scale slot car track that is suspended from the ceiling with cables and a winch. I can play with the track then move it up out of the way for more room. What can I say, growing older but not growing up!

While it has evolved over the last number of years Kenmount Road in St. John’s is home to dozens of car dealerships. Possibly 75%, or even more, of the car dealerships in Dallas TX are located there.

This is a horrible example.

With the exception of a tiny pizza shop, George Street only has bars located on the street.
I think Ottawa St. in Hamilton is a good example, it attracts people from all over Southern Ontario and Western New York, often on organized bus tours. There is no other place with as much selection of fabric and sewing and knitting supplies.

I’m not sure if I’d consider Locke Street in Hamilton a destination street. It’s more like a local shopping district, reminds me of the Glebe or Westboro in Ottawa.

As for destination streets in Ottawa, I don’t think there are any, although tons of people visit Ottawa for the Parliament Buildings and national museums.
